Goddess Series

We can’t avoid grief, it’s part of life. How we deal with grief is a very personal journey. A wise man once said “the only way out is through” drawing from Robert Frost’s line in the “Servant of Servants”.

How do we get through?

One of the trees in my healing forest suggested I pull from the strength of my ancestors. He shared his belief that those who had already passed were stronger now than they were here on earth. Their perceived weaknesses no longer existed. I found this to be very comforting. My Goddess series is based on the women who’s strength I draw from as I continue on my journey.

Goddess
Grief, loss, my Mom.
Larger than life at 4’11”.
She led by example.
Feed them.
Celebrate.
Gratitude.
Strength comes from within.
Lean on family and friends.
Celebrate!
And when all else fails, bake!

Ancestors
I wish I had more time with the three women represented in Ancestors - my Mom, Aunt DoDo, and Aunt Janet. They personify love, strength, power, kindness, and family. They all faced loss, illness, and daily life with grit and love. I look to them as I navigate my life’s journey.

“Len says one steady pull more ought to do it.
He says the best way out is always through.
And I agree to that, or in so far
As that I can see no way out but through —
Leastways for me — and then they’ll be convinced.”
